The two offers the brand ran this season
Chipotle runs buy-one-get-one offers on named days, with terms that define an entree tightly. The back-to-school release: “On Thursday, August 20, guests wearing school apparel or accessories can purchase an entrée at participating Chipotle restaurants in the U.S. from 3 p.m. to close local time and receive a second entrée for free.” “The BUY-ONE-GET-ONE (BOGO) promotion is limited to five free entrées per check and is subject to availability.” And the Sundays offer: “Valid 8/23/26, 8/30/26 and 9/6/26 only, on digital orders for same day pickup from participating Chipotle restaurants in the US and Canada placed after 3:00 p.m. local time during regular business hours, for one free regular entrée item with the purchase of at least two other regular menu entrée items.”
What counts as an entree
“"Regular menu entrée item" means a burrito, burrito bowl, single order of three (3) tacos, a salad, or a quesadilla (limited to digital orders only) subject to availability, excluding extra protein, or guac or queso blanco toppings.” “Kids’ meals and single tacos do not count as an entrée purchase.” “Gratuities, and any sides or extras are not included and are the responsibility of the customer. Additional cost for Guacamole, Queso Blanco, extra protein or other premium add-ons.”
The arithmetic at the medians
| Order under the offer | Pays for | At the medians | Per entree |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two chicken burritos, one free (BOGO) | one | $9.80 | $4.90 |
| Two steak burritos, one free (BOGO) | one | $11.80 | $5.90 |
| Chicken and steak burrito, cheaper one free (BOGO) | the steak | $11.80 | $5.90 |
| Three chicken burritos, third free (Sundays) | two | $19.60 | $6.53 |
| Three chicken burritos with guacamole (Sundays) | two, plus three guacamoles | $28.45 | $9.48 |
The extras stay full price under both offers: “Extra cost for guacamole (except for veggie entreés), queso, extra meat or other modifiers.” so a BOGO with guacamole on both entrees pays $5.90 for the guacamole on top of the one entree. The five-entree cap on the school offer makes the largest single check ten entrees for the price of five.
Where the offers were valid
Both ran at participating restaurants in the United States and Canada; the school offer in the restaurant from 3 PM to close, the Sundays offer on digital orders for same-day pickup placed after 3 PM. Neither applied to delivery, catering or third-party orders. The deals and promo codes page lists every current code and its terms; when an offer ends this page keeps the terms as history.
The older BOGO terms
The brand’s 2023 pages use the same definitions: “"regular menu entrée item" means a burrito, burrito bowl, lifestyle bowl, single order of tacos, quesadilla (only available via the Chipotle App or on Chipotle website), or a salad, subject to availability.” The pattern has held for three years on the pages read: a named day, an entree defined to exclude kid’s meals and single tacos, extras at full price.
What buy one get one is worth, entree by entree
Two of the same entree for the price of one halves the price per plate; the dearest entrees are worth the most on the day. At the medians read:

| Steak Bowl | $11.80 | $5.90 |
