What is a Chipotlane?

A Chipotlane is Chipotle’s drive-up lane for collecting app and website orders without leaving the car, introduced in 2018; the brand says nearly 30 percent of its restaurants had one at the 1,000th in November 2024, but its directory does not list which, so the app is the way to check.

What a Chipotlane is, in the brand’s words

“Chipotle first introduced the Chipotlane format in the U.S. in early 2018, giving guests and delivery drivers the ability to pick up their Chipotle orders without leaving their cars.”

It is a pickup lane, not a drive-through with a menu board: the order is placed in the app or on the website first, and the lane hands it over. The brand’s release on its thousandth: “On average, it takes guests less than 30 seconds to complete the Chipotlane process.” “New restaurant openings that feature the digital order pick-up lane have demonstrated higher volumes and greater returns than a traditional Chipotle restaurant format.”

How many there are

“Of the company’s more than 3,600 restaurants in its real estate portfolio, nearly 30% feature a Chipotlane.” “Chipotle’s 1,000th Chipotlane restaurant is located in the greater Kansas City area at 14833 West 151st Street in Olathe, Kansas.” “In 2025, Chipotle anticipates opening between 315 to 345 new restaurants with at least 80% including a Chipotlane.” The company’s later boilerplate: “There are over 4,200 restaurants as of June 30, 2026, in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the Middle East and it is the only restaurant company of its size that owns and operates all its restaurants in the United States, Canada and Europe.”

Which restaurants have one: not published

The brand’s directory does not say. This site read all 4,160 restaurant pages, and each names the same six amenities (Delivery, Catering, Free WiFi, Children's Menu and Onsite Parking) with no lane among them; the ordering menu records of the 372 restaurants read carry a lane flag that read false at every one, which cannot be right against the brand’s own count and so is not used. The one way to know is the app: a restaurant with a Chipotlane offers it as a pickup option when you order.

What it costs

Nothing beyond the pickup price: the lane is a pickup channel, so the Chipotle chicken burrito at the median is $9.80, not the $12.75 delivery price. The pickup against delivery page lists both prices for every item.

The new restaurants

The directory’s open dates show the pace the release describes: 312 restaurants dated 2025 and 230 dated 2026 so far, with the latest open date on the pages read 21 October 2026. The restaurant count by state page lists them by state.

New restaurants, by opening year

The brand’s directory carries an opening date on most restaurant pages; the newest cohorts are where the lanes concentrate, by the brand’s own account. Of the 4,160 pages read, 312 opened in 2025 and 230 so far in 2026.
