The rule, in the brand’s words
“Mixed protein orders will be charged for the higher-priced protein.”
That sentence is from Chipotle’s own offer terms, and it is the whole of the published rule: two proteins on one entree are charged at the dearer protein’s price. What the split does to the figures
The brand’s calculator records a half portion for chicken, steak, barbacoa, carnitas and Sofritas (90, 75, 85, 105 and 75 calories), calories only, and each is exactly half the full record. If each half is half its record, chicken and steak come to 165 calories and 26.5 g of protein against 180 and 32 g for chicken alone, because steak’s record is lighter in calories and protein than chicken’s. The table does that arithmetic for seven splits; it is arithmetic on the brand’s records, not a record of its own.
When the split costs nothing
Chicken, Sofritas and the veggie option share the lowest entree price, so half chicken and half Sofritas is $9.80, the chicken price. Any split with steak or barbacoa is $11.80; with carnitas $10.55; with Pollo Asado $10.40. The same rule prices a kid’s build your own at the dearer protein when two are chosen.
