Is Chipotle gluten free?

At Chipotle only the flour tortillas carry the brand’s gluten mark: a bowl, salad or crispy corn tacos avoid them at the same price ($9.80 for chicken at the median), the brand will change gloves on request, and it warns that corn items may carry traces from the field.

The brand’s own answer

“If you avoid gluten, don’t eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order.”

Chipotle’s chart combines wheat and gluten in one column (“Wheat & Gluten categories are combined since all Chipotle gluten-containing items contain wheat.”) and marks two parts on the menus read: Flour Tortilla (burrito) and Soft Flour Tortilla (taco). Every other charted part carries no gluten mark, 22 of them, from the meats and rice to the salsas and guacamole.

What to order

Two orders with no gluten-marked part, summed from the records and priced at the medians read 25 September 2026
Order Parts Calories Protein Carbs Fiber Sodium At the medians
Chicken bowl, classic parts chicken, white rice, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, cheese and lettuce 660 50 g 68 g 10 g 1,610 mg $9.80
Chicken tacos, crispy corn chicken, crispy corn tortillas, fresh tomato salsa, cheese and lettuce 520 41 g 35 g 5 g 1,050 mg $9.80

A bowl or salad is the burrito without the tortilla, at the same price ($9.80 for chicken at the median); tacos in the crispy corn shell carry no gluten mark, tacos in the soft flour tortilla do. The quesadilla is a flour tortilla and cannot be ordered without one.

The corn caveat

“You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have trace amounts of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field.” “Yes, Chipotle chips are gluten free. They are made from corn tortillas cut into triangles, fried in vegetable oil, and seasoned with lime juice and salt.”

Sensitivity and cross-contact

“If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order.” “Individual foods may come into contact with one another during preparation, which is not reflected on this chart.” “Additionally, limited time offerings or menu items in test may include one or more allergens, including allergens not identified on this page.”

Rice, beans and queso

“Yes. Both the white rice and brown rice at Chipotle are gluten free. The rice is seasoned with lime juice and cilantro, making it a safe and flavorful base for Burrito Bowls, Tacos, or as a side.” “Chipotle’s Queso Blanco does not contain gluten, but it does contain sulfites.” The gluten free tool lists every part with no gluten mark and its record.
